Predator antennas - Which Predator antenna do I need? These can be used for Cb or 10 meter radios. The higher the price the better the antenna is. The overall length may be important to you due to hight restrictions you may have. Predator antennas are the lightest antennas made in competition class at less than 2 Lbs. Also all parts are replaceable. We will be listing new page for whips and parts soon. There is a lifetime manufactures warranty on manufacturing defects. Listed below are the four latest models as of June 2011. You may not find all four models on other websites.
The 10K standard Predator Antenna is around 6 feet long after tuning.
The 10K Competition Predator antenna has two added "coil turns" to make the antenna shorter. This model is usually best for big trucks. The overall length after tuning will be around 5'6" to 5'8". The manufacture states that the Competition antenna is only 1-2" longer than the older dual coil antennas and that they will out preform the dual coil antennas. This is way we are not currently carryig the dual coil models. The purpose of the dual coil was to allow a shorter overall antenna of around 5'6". The newer single coil competition model "with added coil turns" is about the same length as the older dual coil models and is a slightly better preforming antenna.
The Competition Plus Predator antenna has a longer insulator (about 2") for less loss. The section the whip slides into is also about 2" longer. The overall antenna length after tuning is around 6'. The Predator Comptetion Plus antenna will out preform the lower priced Predator antennas.
For the serious operator we have the 30K Competiton Plus Predator antenna. This is the best of the Predator antenna line. The 30K has a larger coil and has been tested at 50,000 watts. The Predator 30K has a 36" long 3/4" diameter Tubular aluminum center radiator instead of the typical steel whip. The center radiator can slide up and down to adjust the SWR. The tubular center rod is not flexible like the steel whips so if you will be hitting trees and other objects a steel whip model will be better for you.
All of the Predator antenans have a few different bottom shaft lengths to choose from. We offer all that are available. It is best to have the longer shaft to get the coil above any objects around the antenna. If you will be hitting trees or other objects the shorter bottom shaft may be better for you.
Note: We are curently using the same picture for all four models. The four Predator antenna models look very similar, the 30K has a larger diameter coil and tubular center rod. |
